This is a project which I call ‘Life from Above’, centred around key locations from my upbringing, capturing them from a different perspective. The series consists of 8 photographs, each of them having their own relevance in my childhood, combining my personal life with the practice of aerial photography.
I grew up in a small town just outside of Birmingham called Oldbury, spending my youth here, as well as the surrounding towns. I wanted to create this project to document the areas in which I spent these key years, the locations which moulded the person that I am today, and the story behind my life. Showing these places from an aerial perspective, which most would have never seen them from before, offers a new idea of these locations, morphing them into this unseen entity.
The project was shot entirely on a DJI Mini 3 Pro, with all relevant safety precautions followed when taking flight, ensuring I wasn’t invading the privacy of the locals whilst doing so. I hope by doing this, I am able to change the public attitude towards drone technology as a whole.
